Now You Ask The practices

Your turn to ask.

For years, computers asked the questions and you filled in the boxes. AI flips that. It's a conversation, and the skill is one you've used your whole life: asking, listening, and saying "that's not right."

Short practice conversations with ChatGPT or Claude, one at a time, at your own pace. No jargon. The first three are free, right here.

Ten minutes each. Free. No signup to start. Nothing you type on this page leaves it.

Not sure yet? Read what this is first.

Sound familiar?

"I tried it once and didn't know what to type."

"I'm afraid I'll mess something up, or look foolish."

"I don't trust what it does with my information."

"The kids, or the younger folks at work, use it every day. I feel behind."

None of those are about technology. They're about practice. Nobody gets comfortable with something by reading about it. You get comfortable by doing it, a little at a time, somewhere it's safe to be wrong. That's what this is.

Who it's for

For everyday life

You've heard plenty about AI. You'd like to actually use it.

Maybe you tried it once. Maybe someone in the family keeps telling you to. You want it for real things: a note to the grandkids, a confusing bill, a recipe, the questions you keep forgetting to ask the doctor. You don't want a class. You want someone to show you, one step at a time.

Start with everyday life

For you and your team

AI is already in your business, whether you planned it or not.

Some of your people avoid it. Some use it without thinking about what they paste in. You want everyone comfortable and careful, without a consultant or a software rollout. Every practice ends with a 15-minute huddle you can run on a Monday morning.

Start with your team

After ten practices, you'll be able to

  • Have a real back-and-forth with AI, and steer it when it misses.
  • Catch it being wrong, and know when to double-check.
  • Get it to ask you the right questions before it answers.
  • Write a note, letter, or message that still sounds like you.
  • Spot a scam call, text, or fake invoice before it costs you.
  • Know what never to type, and how to ask without it.
  • Turn a confusing bill, letter, or contract into plain words.
  • Talk to it out loud instead of typing.
  • For teams: run a 15-minute weekly habit, and hand everyone a one-page policy for what's OK to share.

What it isn't

Not a course.

No videos, no tests, no homework. Ten minutes, then get on with your day.

Not something to buy.

The first ten practices are free. Three right here, seven more by email.

Not software.

Nothing to install. It works with the free versions of ChatGPT and Claude.

Not for "tech people."

If you can send a text message, you can do every practice here.

How it works

1

Pick a practice

Each one takes about ten minutes and teaches one thing that makes AI useful.

2

Copy the words

Fill in a blank or two. The page writes the message for you to send.

3

Paste and talk

Paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, then answer like you'd answer a friend.

What it is. ChatGPT and Claude are programs you talk with by typing, or by speaking out loud. They answer the way a thoughtful person might. Both are free to start. You'll make an account with your email the first time.

  1. On any practice, tap Copy the message.
  2. Tap Open ChatGPT or Open Claude and sign in. On a phone, you can also download their app.
  3. Paste into the message box and send it. On a phone, press and hold in the box and choose Paste. On a computer, right-click and choose Paste.
  4. Answer its questions. Short answers are fine.

You're in charge. You can type "slow down," "say that simpler," or "that's not right." It won't be offended. It can be wrong, so trust yourself over it.

Your privacy. What you type goes to that company. In its settings, look under privacy or data controls and turn off the option that lets it use your chats to improve its models. Leave out full names, addresses, and account numbers.

Seven more, free by email

Each one builds on the last. Sign up and we'll send them to you, plus a short note when there's something worth trying.

Signing up happens on our newsletter page, not here. This page still never sends what you type.

Questions people ask

Do I have to pay for ChatGPT or Claude?

No. Both have free versions, and every practice here works with them. Paid versions exist, but you don't need one to start.

Phone or computer?

Either one. On a phone, the free ChatGPT or Claude app is easiest. On a computer, use their websites. The practices work the same way on both.

How long does it take?

About ten minutes a practice. One or two a week is plenty. Going slowly is how it sticks.

Is it safe?

What you type on this page stays on your device. This site never sends it anywhere. What you paste into ChatGPT or Claude does go to that company, so leave out names, addresses, account numbers, and passwords. Practice 6 is all about this, and the three rules below cover the basics.

What if I get stuck?

Tell the AI. Type "I'm stuck" or "explain that more simply." It's patient, and you can't break it. If a conversation goes sideways, start a new chat and try again.

Which is better, ChatGPT or Claude?

For everything here, either one works. Pick one and stay with it for a while, so you get used to it.

What does it cost?

The ten practices are free. Later there will be The Weekly Ask, a paid membership for people who want a new practice every week. You don't need it to get everything on this page.

I run a business. Is this enough to train my team?

It's a strong start: ten 15-minute huddles and a one-page policy your people can follow. The Team Kit in The Weekly Ask will go further.

Who made this?

Steve Fultz. It isn't connected to OpenAI, which makes ChatGPT, or to Anthropic, which makes Claude.

Know someone who'd like this?

Most people start because someone they trust sent it to them. A parent, a friend from church, the person at work who's been meaning to try it.

Three rules that keep you safe

It can be wrong and sound sure. Check anything that matters: health, money, legal, and facts you'll repeat.

Don't paste what you wouldn't post. No passwords, account numbers, Social Security numbers, or anyone else's private details.

It's a helper, not a doctor, lawyer, or counselor. Use it to get ready for those conversations, not to replace them.
